Thieves and Incompetents

So, it turns out the Bush Administration got an explicit warning in 2006 about the ticking economic timebomb presented by unregulated subprime mortgages and the rampant exploitation of them by unscrupulous people up and down the financial foodchain.  But, just like other warnings this band of ideologues and incompetents received -- no WMDs in Iraq, compromised levees in New Orleans, etc. -- this one went unheeded. And they yielded to the band of thieves from America's banks, who claimed that the troubled mortgages were okay -- the same thieves we're now bailing out, the same thieves pocketing  huge bonuses.  The very thieves who ought to be imprisoned, not just reviled.
