Incidentally, the scuttlebutt at the school where I teach is that the stupid woman in this couple is the first cousin of the mother of a graduate of the class of 2009.  Bad genes.  Send me wheelbarrows full of twenty-dollar bills and I will gladly tell you who it is.

A Reality Show I Can Believe In

The best part of the article in today's New York Times about the moronic interlopers at the White House state dinner: 

Ed Rollins, a Republican political operative, said Sunday that the Salahis should be prosecuted.

“They basically trespassed,” Mr. Rollins said on “State of the Union” on CNN. “They had no right to be there. The Secret Service has a tough-enough task without having people dress up and pretend they’re important.”

Referring to the Salahis’ reported intention to appear on the reality television show “The Real Housewives of Washington,” Mr. Rollins continued, “These people want a reality TV show, give them one. It’s called ‘Dealing With the Federal Prosecution System of the District of Columbia.’ ”

I agree completely.  Lock 'em up. 

Gotta Love the BoTax

What a great idea: make these stupid narcissists pay through their fixed noses and lifted butts. 

And here's a proposal to tax the vanity industry more broadly.  Wonderful.

White House Interlopers

I have not commented on the two publicity-seeking imbeciles from Virginia who finagled the way into a state dinner at the White House earlier in the week.  They obviously come from seriously flawed genetic stock.   These two self-promoting, self-infatuated assholes should be prosecuted and jailed.  This is no joke.  And the Secret Service agents responsible for allowing this breach to occur should be fired.

What's almost as bad: the news media pathetically providing these two fame whores with precisely the attention they seek.  Incredible.  

College Sports

Some of you from the Boston area may be aware that Northeastern University earlier this week announced its plans to close down its intercollegiate football program.  That's a very sensible move. It will be good for the university. The program was just too costly.  Boston University did the same thing in 1997 and it has survived just fine.  So will Northeastern.  

College football is a ridiculous waste of money at most institutions.  Actually, let's expand that assertion to include intercollegiate sports generally.  Let the kiddies play intramural sports.  Dispense with all the travel, hotels, wasted time, and associated nonsense.  Fire the coaches and athletic directors pulling down millions of dollars each. Stop the athletic arms race.  Focus on academics.  Stop the idiocy.
