Two recent newspaper articles reaffirm the fact that we've totally screwed up our climate.
Sunday's Boston Globe reported on the dramatic decline of aspen trees in the Rocky Mountains. (The article only glancingly refers to the Rockies' loss of millions of acres of lodgepole pines to the advance of pine beetles, also a result of climate change.)
Those of you who are snooty Easterners who have never set tender foot in the Rockies and thus don't give a damn about what is happening there: LISTEN UP! Your own (inexplicably) preferred havens like Martha's Vineyard are also suffering severe tree losses because of climate change. In MV's case, according to today's Globe, the dying trees are oaks.
The Republicans in the Senate may well succeed in blocking any legislation to slow down climate change. In that case, they'll succeed in making the whole country look like their own preferred places such as Arizona.
