You've all read about the sniping within the McCain-Palin camp. McCain's top staffers have publicly called Palin a "diva" and a "whackjob," and have complained that she has "gone rogue," not following the script the McCain people have prepared for her. They blame her and the people around her for the $150,000 spending spree to buy Palin a new wardrobe. They're despondent over the fact that Palin's presence on the ticket has been such a serious drag on McCain's chances. And they're angry that in the past couple of weeks, Palin has seemed concerned only with her own future political prospects.
Palin and the people around her respond with complaints that the McCain people have micromanaged Palin and that if they had only let Palin get out and talk openly to crowds and to the media -- that is, if they had "let Palin be Palin" -- all would have been well.
