Capital Compromise

One of the intriguing thiings about the study of history is the opportunity it affords to contemplate how things might have gone differently if a single meeting had not occurred or if a decision had gone the other way.

Here's a brief take on the compromise that made Washington, DC the capital city.  Fergus Bordewich speculates about one of the important consequences of that compromise.
